About Nicole.
I’m driven by a desire to explore the full sensory experience of space - bringing together the disciplines of research, interior design, perfumery and wellness to create environments that nourish both body and mind.
I’m drawn to nature-inspired maximalism, layered materiality, and the beauty of the found and foraged. Through scent, texture, colour, light, ritual and atmosphere, I hope to shape spaces that feel emotionally resonant, deeply restorative and alive with sensorial pleasure.
Nicole doesn’t simply see aesthetics — she experiences them through every sense. Raised on a fruit farm and later completing a degree in Food and Nutrition, she developed an instinctive connection to nature as a source of beauty, pleasure and wellbeing.
Her career in sensory research deepened this understanding, shaping a design philosophy grounded in the power of atmosphere and embodied experience. For Nicole, truly memorable spaces are never defined by visuals alone; they are shaped equally by texture, scent, sound, light and feeling. Working in consumer research, she applied experiential branding principles to help create department stores, shopping centres and fashion retail environments that felt more immersive, emotive and personally resonant.
Together with her husband, Nicole co-created an award-winning farmstay — recognised by Fodor’s Travel as one of the world’s Top 7 Farmstays. Her portfolio also includes an eclectic inner-city Sydney warehouse, a beautifully considered “Zoom-ready” home office, a sun-drenched coastal shack, and a sophisticated bachelor pad for an urban professional, alongside numerous family homes.
Beyond residential interiors, Nicole has styled retail spaces, front-of-house environments and trade show installations, always bringing a richly layered, sensory-led approach that celebrates warmth, character and connection.
With a Master’s in Perfumery, Nicole brings a nuanced understanding of the role fragrance plays in shaping atmosphere, memory and emotion. She believes scent is one of the most powerful ways to personalise a space — whether evoking the sun-warmed sensuality of the Mediterranean, the delicate freshness of newly gathered freesias, or the intimate richness of a tobacco-lined den.
After completing a Certificate IV in Interior Decoration at Sydney Design School, Nicole refined her ability to create environments that either quietly hum with atmosphere or burst with sensorial delight. Her work spans homes, retail spaces and events, always guided by a deeply layered and human-centred approach to design.
Nicole works closely with private clients while also sourcing and styling for her own store, The Picking Shed, located within The Merchants Warehouse. There, she gathers and curates vintage and antique furniture, apothecary and objects sought after by stylists, set designers and discerning homemakers alike.
In her sitting moments, she weaves baskets.
